A beginner’s guide by Alistair McAra for those new to digital photography. But there are sure to be tips for those with more experience of digital cameras.
This meeting is also the closing date for entries for the WPS Annual Exhibition.
Himalayan expeditions – Paul Daly

Paul Daly and Giora Dan are the principal photographers of Nomadic Planet Ltd.
They have been involved in a series of photographic expeditions into the Himalayan area since November 2008, shooting a body of work which focuses on the landscape of the area and the people who live within those landscapes.

Our judge this year is Jordyn O’Keeffe, who runs several popular photography courses through Wellington High School’s community education programme, and also does private tuition. Jordyn will briefly critique each image in a constructive way.

Recent development in digital cameras has allowed amateurs to take images that rival those taken by professional astronomers.
Modified webcams can be used to take images of the moon and planets, and DSLR cameras can take wide field images of celestial objects.
John Field will talk about the equipment and software needed to take and process images of celestial objects.
