Objectives

In 2008 WPS asked its members to complete a survey on the society. This survey showed that members are keen to see more of the following topics in WPS.

  • Stimulating, high-quality events
  • Learning
  • Aesthetics of photography

The Committee is committed to meeting the needs of its members by achieving the following:

Stimulating, high-quality events

  • Present one high-calibre keynote event in 2009.
  • Present one high-profile and high-quality annual exhibition of member's work.

Learning

  • Encourage and support the WPS Special Interest Groups.
  • Strengthen learning from competitions through use of strong selection processes and quality feedback to entrants.
  • Ensure the programme includes opportunities for interactive critique sessions of member's work and other photographers.
  • Enhance the website to include tips, hints, information and links to useful sites.

Aesthetics

  • Ensure the programme includes opportunities for interactive critique sessions of the aesthetics of photography.
  • Encourage attendance at workshops with ‘master' photographers.
  • Lift the quality of exhibition and competition entries through setting clear standards and learning opportunities.
  • Ensure the website is visually attractive as well as functional.
